My scooter fell over when stationary: is the stand to blame?
Almost always yes, and it's one of these three: bent stand (the support is no longer symmetrical), ovalized bushings and pins (the stand has lateral play), or worn feet (it slides on smooth pavement). Put the vehicle on the stand and push it sideways: if it moves, you've found the culprit.

Why doesn't the stand return by itself?
It's the weak return spring, not the stand. Changing only the stand without changing the spring won't solve it: order them together.
