There is no fixed mileage. A shock absorber is judged by its behavior: if after a bump the wheel bounces multiple times before stabilizing, or if you see oil on the stem, it should be replaced. With intense urban use, rear shocks typically fail between 30,000 and 50,000 km.
Can I install sport shock absorbers instead of the original ones?
Yes, if the model is declared compatible by the shock absorber manufacturer. Compared to original ones, they offer greater precision but often less comfort. For city scooters, the original is the best compromise; for touring maxi-scooters, an adjustable shock absorber makes a difference.
Can steering cups be greased or should they be replaced?
If the wear is initial and the play is minimal, a top-up of specific grease can restore smoothness. If there are grooves on the races or the handlebar locks in the center, the only solution is to replace the complete cups: delaying will lead to a damaged frame and higher costs.
