Frequently asked questions

What does dual P/J homologation mean?
It means the helmet is approved in two configurations: P (protective) when closed, like a full-face helmet, and J (jet) with the chin bar flipped up. You can therefore legally ride with the chin bar open, which a modular helmet without P/J does not allow.

Does the chin bar open completely?
Yes. The KV55 is a flip-back helmet: the chin bar rotates backward and rests behind the shell, instead of remaining raised on the forehead like traditional modular helmets. In the open configuration, the helmet behaves like a jet helmet.

Is the Pinlock® lens included?
No. The visor is pre-drilled for the Pinlock® 70 DKS002 anti-fog lens, which is not included in the box and must be purchased separately: the Kappa spare part code is Z2261KR.

Does it have an internal sun visor?
Yes. In addition to the anti-scratch outer visor, the KV55 features a retractable internal smoked sun visor, which can be lowered when needed and retracts into the shell. This is the meaning of "double visor" on the Kappa specification sheet.

How much does it weigh?
Kappa declares 1700 grams with a tolerance of ±50 g, which is the same across the entire KV55 range, Basic and York. This is the weight of the bare helmet, without packaging.
