X-Guard: guide, tips, and FAQs
Strengths
- Sold Secure Gold certifications – the strictest standard for cut resistance
- Tempered hardened steel – chains and U-Locks that resist angle grinders
- 100+ dB alarms – disc locks with motion sensors and sirens
- Layered protection – mechanical + audible + GPS tracking (with other accessories)
What you'll find in this section
- Anti-theft chains — 10-22 mm hardened steel chains with integrated padlock
- Disc locks — Mechanical and integrated alarm disc locks
- U-Locks — 16-18 mm steel arch locks
- Handlebar locks — Dedicated steering locks for motorcycle and scooter handlebars
- Combined kits — Chain + disc lock combinations for layered protection
Important notes
- A disc lock alone only prevents the motorcycle from being ridden away: a professional thief can load it onto a van. It's better to combine it with a chain anchored to a fixed point.
- Sold Secure Gold is the strictest certification (5+ minutes resistance to an angle grinder): choose at least Silver, preferably Gold, for a motorcycle costing €5,000 or more.
- The disc lock alarm must have a charged battery to work: replace the batteries once a year.
How to choose the right protection
- Short stop, city — Disc lock with 100+ dB alarm
- Overnight street parking — Sold Secure Gold chain anchored to a post
- Private garage / box — U-Lock + disc lock + motorcycle cover
- Premium motorcycle (>€10,000) — Gold chain + alarm disc lock + GPS tracker
Perfect for
For those who keep their motorcycle on the street or in an open courtyard and don't want to come back in the morning to find only the seat cover. X-Guard Sold Secure Gold chains and alarm disc locks are a standard: a thief won't spend 15+ minutes on a motorcycle when the one next to it is protected by a bicycle lock. If you don't know how to anchor the chain, contact us: we will advise you on the fixed point and the correct length.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is a disc lock enough for my motorcycle?
A disc lock prevents the motorcycle from being ridden away but won't stop a thief from loading it onto a van. If you park on the street or in an unfenced courtyard, always add a Sold Secure Gold chain anchored to a fixed point: the thief has to cut the chain on site, which takes time and attracts attention. The disc lock with alarm is a good additional deterrent.
What does Sold Secure Gold mean?
Sold Secure is the British body that certifies anti-theft devices based on their resistance time to cutting with an angle grinder. Gold means the chain resists for at least 5 minutes; Silver at least 3 minutes; Bronze at least 1 minute. Sold Secure Gold anti-theft devices are also required by motorcycle theft insurance for valuable motorcycles.
Is a U-Lock or a chain better?
It depends on how you park. A U-Lock is harder to cut (the steel of the shackle is thicker and less exposed), but it is rigid and requires an anchor point very close to the motorcycle. A chain is more flexible: you can anchor it to a post or a ring 1-2 meters away. Many motorcyclists use both for layered protection.
