Important notes
- Change the coolant when you open the circuit: the old one has lost its anti-corrosion properties.
- When replacing the pump, also replace the thermostat cover if the gasket shows signs of failure.
- After reassembly, bleed the air from the circuit with the bleed valve: air bubbles = sudden overheating.

Frequently asked questions
How often should the coolant be changed?
The manufacturer indicates typical intervals of 40,000-60,000 km or 4 years, whichever comes first. The fluid loses anti-corrosion and antifreeze properties over time, even if the level does not drop. Check it at every service and replace it when due: it costs little compared to the damage it can prevent.
How do I know if the water pump is faulty?
Typical signs: coolant level dropping without obvious leaks, traces of coolant under the pump when the engine is cold, metallic noise from the pump block. If in doubt, remove the casing and check the impeller: if it is corroded or has axial play, the pump should be replaced.
Should I also change the thermostat with the pump?
Not mandatory, but recommended when the scooter has many kilometers and the circuit is already open. The thermostat is inexpensive, and its failure (stuck open or closed) leads to opposite but equally serious problems. Doing the job all at once saves labor and fluid.
