How do I know if it's leaking?
Oil leaks from the edge of the rocker cover downwards and stains the side of the engine; you often smell burnt oil when the engine is hot. If the leak comes from below, from the oil pan, it's a different spot.
How long does it take to change?
About an hour: disconnect the fittings above the cover, remove the screws, thoroughly clean the cylinder head surface of any residue, and install the new gasket. The part that requires patience is cleaning the surface.
How should the screws be tightened?
Crosswise, from the center outwards, without forcing: a crushed gasket leaks just like an old one.
