Is the original BMW rack required?
Yes. The Kappa price list indicates that the KRA5117 can only be mounted in conjunction with the original rack provided as an optional extra by the manufacturer. If the motorcycle is not equipped with it, the alternative is the Kappa KZ5117.
Do I also need to buy a Monokey plate?
No. The KRA5117 already has the integrated aluminum plate: the MONOKEY® top case attaches directly.
