The KV55 Basic Gloss White is the modular helmet for those who ride a lot at night or in winter: gloss white is the most visible color in traffic, and the dual P/J homologation allows choosing between full-face and jet depending on the road. Frequently asked questions

What does dual P/J homologation mean?
It means the helmet is approved in two configurations: P (protective) when closed, like a full-face, and J (jet) with the chin guard flipped up. You can therefore legally ride with the chin guard open, which a modular helmet without P/J does not allow.

Does the chin guard open completely?
Yes. The KV55 is a flip-back helmet: the chin guard rotates backward and rests behind the shell, instead of staying raised on the forehead like traditional modular helmets. In the open configuration, the helmet behaves like a jet.

Is the Pinlock® lens included?
No. The visor is prepared for the Pinlock® 70 DKS002 anti-fog lens, which is not in the box and must be purchased separately: the Kappa spare part code is Z2261KR.

Does it have an internal sun visor?
Yes. In addition to the anti-scratch outer visor, the KV55 features a retractable internal smoked sun visor, which lowers when needed and retracts into the shell. This is the meaning of "dual visor" on the Kappa spec sheet.

How much does it weigh?
Kappa declares 1700 grams with a tolerance of ±50 g, the same across the entire KV55 range, Basic and York. This is the weight of the bare helmet, without packaging.

What sizes are available?
Six sizes, from XS to XXL. Kappa sizes correspond to head circumference in centimeters: XS 54, S 56, M 58, L 60, XL 61, XXL 63. Measure your head above your eyebrows and order the corresponding number.

What is this color officially called?
Kappa lists it in the 2026 catalog as GLOSS WHITE, with item code HKKV55BB910. This is the name you will also find on the packaging label and on dedicated spare parts.

Can I install an intercom?
Kappa does not declare intercom readiness for the KV55, so we do not promise it. The interior is removable and many universal intercoms can still be installed: if you need a guaranteed fit, write to us and we will check together.
