The magneto flywheel stator is the fixed plate that generates current for your moped: six copper windings mounted on an aluminum support, with pre-terminated gray wiring and a three-way white connector. Original Piaggio spare part for Piaggio, Gilera, and Vespa 50 2T models from the 1998-2005 historical catalogs. Product code 830294.
✓ Strengths
- Original Piaggio spare part – the same code indicated in the official spare parts catalog on the Flywheel magneto, Engine group table.
- Six coils on plate – this is the standard configuration for these 50 2T engines.
- Complete wiring already mounted – gray sheath, crimped terminals, and three-way white connector: no splices needed.
- One code for three brands – Piaggio, Gilera, and Vespa, in the 29 versions listed below.
- This is the part to look for when there is no spark – or when the lights remain dim and the battery doesn't charge.

| Package contents | 1 complete stator with its wiring |
• 🔴 On some models, the catalog provides for multiple stators in the same position. On the Zip, for example, three alternative codes appear on the same line of the table; on the NRG MC3, two. These are not replacements: they are different versions mounted according to the year. Before ordering, compare yours or send us the chassis number.
• The pick-up is a separate code (498865 on the Flywheel magneto table), as are the flywheel, rotor, and key: here you receive the stator with its wiring, not the complete assembly.
• Before replacing it, measure it. Use an ohmmeter to check the resistance of each winding and ensure none are shorted to ground: spark plug, cap, ECU, and ground points show the same symptoms and cost much less.
• You need a flywheel puller. The flywheel is keyed to the engine crankshaft cone: it cannot be removed with a lever or hammer, and forcing it will damage the cone.

Who it's perfect for
This is the part for those with a 50 two-stroke that no longer sparks even with new spark plug and cap, for those whose vehicle cuts out when hot and only restarts when cold, and for those with dim lights and a battery that doesn't charge despite having replaced the regulator and battery. It's also a spare part that workshops keep in stock: a single code covers twenty-nine versions across Piaggio, Gilera, and Vespa, and those who work on mopeds from those years encounter it constantly.
Original Piaggio spare part, new and never mounted. Moon Bike S.r.l. is based in Cercola (NA) and is an authorized reseller of the Piaggio Group: we ship from Italy with invoice and manufacturer's warranty. On a stator, the difference between original and reproduction is evident in the durability of the windings.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if the stator is faulty?
With an ohmmeter, when the engine is cold and the connector is disconnected: measure the resistance of each winding and check that none are shorted to ground. A broken winding will show infinite resistance, a shorted one almost zero. If the vehicle cuts out when hot and restarts when cold, the number one suspect is the stator itself.
Is the pick-up included?
No. On the Flywheel magneto table in the official catalog, the pick-up is a distinct code, 498865, on the line after the stator. Here you receive the stator with its wiring. If you also need to replace the pick-up, flywheel, or key, these are separate orders: write to us and we will check them in the catalog for you.
Where exactly is it located on the vehicle?
Under the flywheel cover, on the left side of the engine. In the official catalog, it is in the Engine group, Flywheel magneto table: it is position 9 in the catalogs for Skr City, Zip, Typhoon 50, and Liberty 50 2T, and position 12 on the NRG MC3. The number changes because the table changes, not the part.
How many coils does it have?
Six, arranged on the plate around the central hub. If you count a different number when opening the flywheel cover, your vehicle uses a different stator: send us the model, year, and chassis number and we will verify the correct code.
Is it suitable for my Zip, Typhoon, or NRG?
The table above lists the official catalog and includes Zip in all versions, Typhoon, NRG, Liberty 2T, Free, Sfera RST, Skr City, NTT, Gilera Runner, Stalker, Storm, Easy Moving, and Vespa ET2. ⚠️ Please note, however: for Zip and NRG MC3, the catalog provides for multiple alternative stators in the same position, so it's advisable to compare the part or send us the chassis number.
Does the wiring come ready to use?
Yes: the cables are already mounted on the stator, with gray sheath, crimped terminals, and a three-way white connector plus a separate faston terminal. No splices needed. However, compare the connector with the one on your vehicle before ordering.
