Should motorcycle pants be attached to the jacket?
Yes, if possible. The full-circumference zipper between the jacket and pants prevents the jacket from riding up in case of a fall or strong wind, and keeps back and hip protectors in place. Check that the jacket and pants from the same brand have compatible zippers: not all brands use the same attachment.
Do summer pants protect as well as winter pants?
For protection, yes: CE knee protectors are the same. The difference is in the outer fabric: winter pants often have heavier Cordura reinforcements, while summer pants prioritize ventilation with mesh inserts. In case of a slide on asphalt, winter pants tend to be more resistant.
Can I wear my regular jeans under a rain suit?
No, it's not advisable. Standard jeans have no protection and will tear immediately in case of a fall. There are Kevlar-reinforced motorcycle jeans with included CE protectors: these do offer a useful level of protection for urban use, although they don't reach the level of pure technical pants.
