Technical Apparel and Motorcycle Jerseys

What to wear underneath

The protective shirt integrates protectors where the jacket doesn't reach. The lumbar support belt supports the lower back, useful on motorcycles with a forward-leaning riding position and on long trips. Technical socks wick away sweat from the foot inside the boot. Suspenders hold up trousers when the jacket doesn't attach to them.

Motocross jerseys

These are loose, long-sleeved jerseys, made of lightweight and breathable fabric, designed to be worn over back protectors and chest protectors in off-road riding. They have no inherent protection: the protection comes from what you wear underneath.

Frequently asked questions

What is a lumbar support belt for?

It supports the muscles of the lumbar region and limits jolting to the back. It is widely used on long trips and off-road. It is not an impact protection device: for that, a certified back protector is needed.

What size should I get for a protective shirt?

Snug. A loose protective shirt allows protectors to slip out of position. Each product page includes the manufacturer's size chart with chest measurements.

Do technical socks make a difference?

Inside a closed boot, yes: they wick away moisture from the skin and reduce chafing. There are summer versions in lycra and warmer, longer versions.

Is a reflective vest mandatory?

In Italy, a high-visibility vest is mandatory for four-wheeled vehicles, but not for motorcycles. However, it remains the simplest way to be seen at night or in fog.

Does a motocross jersey provide protection?

No, not on its own. It is worn over a back protector and chest protector: they provide the protection, while the jersey manages sweat and covers.
