How to power a device on a motorcycle
There are three ways. The DIN socket (Hella) is the standard for BMW, Ducati, and Triumph and can be used with an adapter. The 12V cigarette lighter socket is the most universal and is mounted on the handlebars with a fuse. The USB socket is the most convenient for phones and intercoms, but it must be chosen with adequate amperage: below 2A, a phone running navigation will still discharge.
Pay attention to waterproofing
A socket mounted on the handlebars will be exposed to all the water the motorcycle is exposed to. Models made for motorcycle use have a spring-loaded cap and a gasket: a car adapter, mounted uncovered, will only last one season.
Mechanical cruise control
It is not an electronic system: it is a stop that tightens on the throttle grip and holds it in position, to rest the wrist on the highway. It disengages with a touch and does not replace the standard electronic cruise control.
