Technical specifications

Vehicle compatibility

Compatibility source: Kappa Moto vehicle catalog, entry "YAMAHA – MT 09 850 Tracer – Year of production: (15 > 17)". The windscreen is not intended for the MT-09 naked or the Tracer 900 from 2018 onwards, which have dedicated codes.

Who it is perfect for

For those who use the MT-09 Tracer for traveling and find the standard windscreen too compact. The 69 cm height of the 2122DTK raises the top edge of the screen and moves the airflow higher than the rider: this is the configuration Kappa offers for touring use, whereas the smoked 48 x 42 cm screen remains the choice for those who want a more streamlined look.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Are the mounts included in the price?
No, and this is the point to check before ordering: Kappa intends for the 2122DTK "to be combined with the D2122KITK mounts," which is a separate item. You can find the D2122KITK kit in our catalog. If you already have the mounts from a previous Kappa or Givi windscreen installed on the bike, those are sufficient.

I have seen the code 2122DT around: is it the same windscreen?
2122DT is the code under which the same screen appears in the Givi catalog, where the mount kit is called D2122KIT. Kappa and Givi are two brands belonging to the same company, Givi S.p.A. This item is the Kappa-branded version, code 2122DTK, with the D2122KITK mount kit.

Does it fit the MT-09 naked or the Tracer 900 from 2018?
No. Kappa intends it only for the MT-09 850 Tracer from 2015 to 2017. The MT-09 without fairing and the Tracer 900 released in 2018 have different mounts and lines, and they have their own specific windscreen codes in the Kappa catalog: installing this screen on those motorcycles is not intended.

How much larger is it than the standard screen?
It measures 69 cm in height by 50 cm in width. Yamaha does not publish the dimensions of the stock windscreen, so the only possible comparison is with the other Kappa screen for this bike, the smoked one that replaces the original: 48 x 42 cm. The 2122DTK is significantly taller and wider.

What material is it made of and what color is it?
It is a transparent plastic screen. In its catalog, Kappa indicates the color (transparent) but does not specify which polymer is used: this is why you only find the generic "plastic" indication on the datasheet. Transparent means that visibility through the screen remains unchanged, even at night or in low light.

Does it mount in place of the original or is it added on?
It is installed with its own dedicated mount kit, the D2122KITK, which replaces the standard support and places the oversized screen in the correct position. The smoked windscreen from the same range, on the other hand, is offered by Kappa as a direct replacement for the original: they are two different solutions.
