Boots
Motorcycle boots protect your feet, ankles, and calves: they are your defense against impacts on the footpeg, low-speed falls, and your foot getting caught under the vehicle. Here you'll find waterproof touring boots, urban boots with a more discreet look, and adventure boots for mixed road and off-road use. Brands include Dane, Difi, Hevik, in men's and women's sizes 36-47, with gear shift pads.
Boots: guide, tips, and FAQs
Strengths
- Waterproof membrane – Aerotex, Hipora or similar, on touring and adventure boots
- Internal and external malleolus protection – TPU or polymer insert
- Gear shift reinforcement – leather or hard material insert over the instep
- Mud flap closure – side zip covered by a flap with Velcro
Important notes
- A boot without malleolus protection is not a motorcycle boot: it's a regular boot.
- The membrane loses effectiveness over time: renew the treatment after a few years.
- If you sweat a lot, a touring boot that's too warm in summer becomes unbearable: consider an urban model.
Perfect for
For those who finally abandon low shoes on their motorcycle and want to protect their ankles and feet. Waterproof touring boots are a must for long trips; urban boots with reduced protection are good for those who use a scooter to commute; adventure boots are for those who also tackle dirt roads. Frequently asked questions
What size boot should I get if I normally wear a 42?
Usually the same, but check the manufacturer's size chart: some motorcycle boots run large to allow space for a thermal sock. If you're between two sizes, take the larger one: padded bands and internal Velcro allow you to tighten, but not to make a too-tight boot wider.
Do waterproof boots breathe?
Membranes like Gore-Tex, Aerotex, and Hipora are designed to be both waterproof and breathable: they let sweat vapor out but don't let rain water in. In practice, they work well in winter and mid-seasons; under the August sun, even the best ventilated boot will get warm.
Can I walk in motorcycle boots?
Modern urban and touring boots are designed to be comfortable for walking. Stiffer racing and adventure boots are less comfortable for walking: they have thick soles and reduced ankle articulation for protection reasons. If you anticipate a lot of walking, choose an urban or flexible touring model.
