Which of the three Freecom/Spirit kits do I need?

Cardo makes three for the same range of intercoms. You choose based on which helmet you have and what you need.

In summary: get this one if you have a jet helmet and already have speakers (because you're moving your Cardo from another helmet or you just need the long boom). If you need to equip a second helmet from scratch, you'll need the ACC00008 or ACC00009, which include speakers. Compatibility

It's an accessory for the helmet and intercom, not for the motorcycle: it's not tied to any specific motorcycle or scooter model. The two constraints to respect are:

• The helmet — must be open-face: jet, demi-jet, half shell. ✗ It makes no sense for full-face and closed modular helmets: there you need the short microphone from the standard kit.
• The intercom — Freecom 2X, Freecom 4X, Spirit, Spirit HD ✓ (and, according to retailers, also Freecom 1/2/4 and 1+/2+/4+*). Packtalk ✗.

Frequently asked questions

Are speakers included?
No. The package contains the mount with the pre-installed boom microphone and the cable: speakers are not included and must be reused from your Cardo. This is the most common disappointment for those who buy this kit without reading — if you also need speakers, look at the ACC00008 or ACC00009.

Will it work on my full-face helmet?
No, it's not designed for that. The product is called Half Helmet Kit and Cardo's English page says "open-faced or half-shell helmets": it's for open-face helmets. On a full-face helmet, the long boom microphone would be uncomfortable, and the standard kit does a better job. ⚠️ Be careful if you read "for full-face helmets" elsewhere: it's an imprecise Italian translation that also circulates on the official website.

Is it suitable for my Packtalk?
No. Cardo only lists Freecom 2X, Freecom 4X, Spirit, and Spirit HD as compatible. For the Packtalk family, there are dedicated half-helmet kits: write us your model and we'll send you the correct one.

Does the microphone stay in place at high speeds?
The boom is a flexible gooseneck, so it can be positioned by hand. A user on the Cardo website reported that, in their opinion, it is a bit too soft and tends to move closer to the face above 70 km/h. On an open-face helmet, this is partly physiological — there's no chin bar to protect from airflow — but it's important for you to know beforehand.

Can I use it as a replacement part?
