Compatibility

The Cardo Freecom 2X is a universal accessory: it is not tied to a motorcycle or scooter model, but is mounted on the helmet. The kit is designed for full-face, modular, open-face, and off-road helmets and the package contains both the wired microphone (for full-face helmets) and the boom microphone (for modular, open-face, and off-road helmets), as well as the clip mount and adhesive plate. The intercom works between rider and passenger and between two motorcycles, and Cardo declares connection with devices from all major brands.

This is the intercom for those who have already tried the entry-level range and want two extra things: audio that truly holds up on the highway and controls that can be used without looking. The control wheel is the reason many stick with this range — with winter gloves, small buttons become a problem, a dial does not. What is "Live Intercom"?
It's Cardo's wideband Bluetooth intercom with automatic reconnection: when two riders move out of range, communication is interrupted, but as soon as they return within usable distance, the connection re-establishes itself, without pressing anything. Along with Sound by JBL, this is the main feature Cardo includes in this model.

Does the Freecom 2X have an FM radio?
Yes. The official Cardo user manual dedicates a chapter to listening to the radio and states that the Freecom 2X is equipped with an integrated FM radio. You can tune in to stations and listen without connecting your smartphone and without consuming data. The phone can still be connected via Bluetooth for calls, music, and navigation.

Is a single pack enough to talk to the passenger?
No. The Single pack contains only one unit, so it equips only one helmet. For rider-passenger or bike-to-bike communication, two units are needed: you can buy two Singles or the DUO pack (FRC2X103). Contact us and we will tell you which of the two solutions is more convenient.

Can it be used in the rain?
Yes: the packaging states «WATERPROOF» and Cardo declares that all its units are waterproof and can be used in the rain. Cardo does not publish a specific IP rating for this model, so we do not indicate one: it is not, however, a device designed for submersion, and should be dried before recharging.

How long does the battery last and how long does it take to charge?
The declared battery life is 13 hours of talk time*. A full charge requires 1.5-2 hours and fast charging provides 2 hours of talk time with 20 minutes of charging. The unit can also be charged while riding, by connecting it to a power bank or a motorcycle power outlet. Software updates, on the other hand, occur wirelessly via the Cardo Connect app, without a cable.
