Frequently Asked Questions

What homologation does the Kappa KV58 Basic have?
It is ECE 22.06 approved: the 2026 Kappa catalog lists it with the code 22R06 and the letter J, which indicates open-face helmets without a chin guard. It is a compact demi-jet designed for daily use on scooters and motorcycles, with a smoked sun visor instead of a long visor.

Does it have a visor?
It has an internal smoked, scratch-resistant sun visor that protects the eyes from the sun. It does not have a long transparent visor that covers the entire face; this is the main difference compared to the Kappa KV60 and KV61 demi-jets. If the sun visor gets scratched, Kappa offers it as a spare part with the code Z2739FR (75% smoked).

If something breaks, can I find spare parts?
Yes. Kappa lists the Z2739FR smoked sun visor, the Z2744R visor mechanism kit, the pair of Z2740R top air vents, and the interior padding with cheek pads for every size. The model is in the 2026 Kappa catalog, so spare parts can be ordered: send us the code, and we will inform you about availability and price.

How much does it weigh?
The 2026 Kappa catalog states 1,000 grams, with a tolerance of 50 grams more or less depending on the size. This is the weight of the helmet only. The package you receive weighs approximately 1.36 kg because it includes the 35 × 30 × 30 cm shipping box.

How do I choose the size?
Measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure, placing it above the eyebrows and around the widest part of the back of the head. Kappa provides one value per size: XS 54 cm, S 55 cm, and M 57 cm. This color is produced in sizes XS, S, and M. We currently have XS and S in stock; size M is sold out.

Is the interior washable?
Yes. Kappa states the interior is removable and washable: it can be detached from the shell, washed, and reinstalled. If it wears out over the years, Kappa offers the complete interior with cheek pads as a spare part for every size, so you don't have to replace the helmet just because the padding has worn down.
