Side Cases
Side cases double the carrying capacity compared to just a top case and are the essential choice for long tours or for those carrying two passengers with luggage. Here you will find Kappa and Givi cases with the Monokey system, in three lines: anodized aluminum for adventure use, ABS plastic for road touring, waterproof fabric for lightweight and foldable solutions.
Side Cases: guide, tips, and frequently asked questions
Strengths
- Kappa Monokey System – single attachment to compatible pannier racks
- Aluminum or ABS – aluminum is more durable for adventure use, ABS is more economical
- Declared waterproofness – for fabric cases, with internal roll-top structure
- Capacities from 32 to 55 liters per case – depending on the model
Important notes
- Cases cannot be mounted without pannier racks: also check the Frames and Pannier Racks section.
- A pair of cases adds weight and width to the motorcycle: check compatibility with your driving license.
- On the highway, balance the loads: cases of different weights affect handling.

Frequently asked questions
Aluminum or ABS plastic?
Aluminum: more resistant to strong impacts, more elegant, pays off in the long run. ABS plastic: lighter, less vulnerable to surface scratches, more economical. For true off-road and adventure enthusiasts, aluminum is the established choice; for road touring, ABS remains the preferred compromise for many.
Do I also need pannier racks if I already have a central rack?
Yes, side pannier racks are a separate component. The central rack only supports the top case; for side cases, you need specific racks for your motorcycle (you can find them in the Frames and Pannier Racks section). Check that the attachment system (Monokey or similar) is consistent with that of the cases.
Are fabric cases really waterproof?
Yes, if they have an internal roll-top structure: the roll-up closure creates a continuous barrier that resists prolonged downpours. Fabric cases with classic zippers are less reliable: the zipper can let water in during heavy rain. The degree of waterproofness is always specified on the product sheet.
