The code 288992 is the original Piaggio Group spare part and is fitted after the cylinder has been rebored: when the tolerances between the piston and the liner are no longer recoverable, the cylinder is bored to the next size up and reassembled with an oversized piston. - This is an oversized piston, not standard. It should only be fitted to a cylinder that has already been rebored to the second oversize. It will not fit or will be loose on a standard or first oversize cylinder.
- Have the cylinder measured by a reboring specialist before ordering, using a micrometer: this is the only way to ensure the correct size.
- The cylinder is not included: the package contains only the piston, pin, rings, and circlips.
- The cylinder base gasket and head gasket are not included: they should always be replaced when disassembling the engine.
- Discontinued code. Piaggio replaced it with 825185, which is also no longer produced: what is available today is residual stock.
- Circlips must be fitted new (those in the package) and never reused: a circlip that comes loose will ruin the cylinder and head in seconds.
