Frequently Asked Questions
What approval does the Kappa KV40 EVO Basic have?
It is ECE 22.06 approved: the Kappa 2026 catalog lists it with the code 22R06. It is an open-face helmet, without a chin strap: a compact open-face helmet designed for everyday use on scooters and motorcycles, with a long clear visor that protects the face from wind and insects.
Does it have a sun visor?
No. The KV40 EVO Basic has only one visor, clear and scratch-resistant, and does not have an internal smoke sun visor: Kappa lists it as a single-visor helmet. For the sun, you need sunglasses. If you need a sun visor, there are open-face helmets in the Kappa range that fit one, such as the KV57 Basic: write to us and we will advise you.
How much does it weigh?
The Kappa 2026 catalog declares 950 grams, with a tolerance of 50 grams more or less depending on the size. This is the weight of the helmet only. The package you receive weighs approximately 1.31 kg, because the helmet is added to the 35 × 30 × 30 cm shipping box.
How do I choose the size?
Measure your head circumference with a tailor's tape, passing over the eyebrows and the most prominent point of the nape. Kappa indicates a value for each size: XS 54 cm, S 56, M 58, L 60 and XL 61. At the moment we have S, M and XL in stock; XS and L can be ordered.
Can the liners be washed?
Yes. Kappa declares removable and washable liners: they detach from the shell, can be washed, and then reattached. If they wear out over the years, Kappa has a complete replacement liner in the catalog for every size, from XS to XL, so you do not have to replace the helmet just because the padding has worn out.
If the visor gets scratched, can I find a replacement?
Yes. Kappa has the Z1482TR scratch-resistant clear visor approved 22R06 in the catalog, the Z2630R visor movement bases, and the grey side covers with Z2628R screws. The model is in the Kappa 2026 catalog, so spare parts can be ordered: write us the code and we will tell you the times and price.
