Piaggio 295789 External Side Stand Spring – Beverly, Vespa GTS, X9 and Runner

The Piaggio 295789 external side stand return spring is the original spare part that returns the side stand to the closed position: the official catalogue lists it in the "Stand(s)" diagram as "External spring", in a quantity of one per vehicle. It is a single part number for 381 versions across Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, and Aprilia. Product code 295789.

✓ Strengths

• Original Piaggio spare part – this is the part number provided by the official spare parts catalogue, not an equivalent.
• It is the EXTERNAL spring – the internal one has a different part number: 295788 on Piaggio, Gilera, and Aprilia; 599561 on Vespa GT, GTS, and GTV.
• A single part number for 99 models – twenty years of Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, and Aprilia range with the same piece.
• Only one is needed – the catalogue specifies a quantity of 1 per vehicle.
• Wear part – it works every time you park: when it loses tension, the stand no longer retracts on its own.

Vehicle compatibility

The list is taken from the official Piaggio spare parts catalog (B2B area) and covers 381 versions. If you have any doubts, send us your vehicle's chassis number and we will verify the correct code for you.

Who it is perfect for

For those whose side stand stays down, only retracts halfway, or rattles every time they start moving: nine times out of ten, the spring has lost its tension, and replacing it costs just a few euros instead of replacing the entire assembly. It is also a part to always keep in the drawer if you work on Piaggio Group scooters, because the same code covers almost the entire range from the last twenty years.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the outer or the inner spring?
This is the outer one: the official Piaggio spare parts catalog specifically calls it "Outer spring." Two springs work on the side stand, one inside the other. The inner one has a different code and varies depending on the vehicle: 295788 for Piaggio, Gilera, and Aprilia; 599561 for Vespa GT, GTS, and GTV models.

How many outer springs are needed?
Just one. The catalog indicates a quantity of 1 per vehicle on the "Stand(s)" diagram, and the same quantity is found on all the models we checked, from the Beverly 125 to the Gilera Nexus 500. If you are rebuilding the entire stand, remember that the inner spring is a separate item.

Why does it fit so many different models?
Because on the Piaggio Group side stand, the outer spring has remained the same for twenty years, while the inner one is what changes. This is why part 295789 covers 99 models and 381 versions: Piaggio Beverly, Liberty, Fly, X8, X9, X Evo and Hexagon, Vespa GT, GTS, GTV, Primavera, Sprint, LX and S, Gilera Runner and Nexus, Aprilia SR and Scarabeo.

How do I know if the spring needs replacing?
The classic symptoms are a stand that doesn't retract on its own, only retracts halfway, or rattles when you start moving. It is under stress at every stop and is exposed to water and salt in the winter, so over the years, it loses tension or breaks near the hook. It is the first part to check before suspecting the stand itself.

What are the dimensions of this spring?
The manufacturer does not publish the length, diameter, or wire thickness for this code: the catalog lists it only as "Outer spring." This is why you won't find specific measurements written on the product page: we prefer to provide less data than incorrect data. If you need precise measurements, write to us and we will measure the part we have in stock.

Why is there no barcode?
Original Piaggio, Vespa, Gilera, and Aprilia spare parts do not have a 13-digit EAN code; the identifier is the part number, in this case, 295789. This is normal and is not missing information. To order or to ask us for verification, that number is all you need, along with your vehicle's model and year.
