The KRA5117 cannot be mounted on the naked bike: it requires the original BMW rack, which on the R 1200 R/RS and R 1250 R/RS is an optional from the manufacturer. If your motorcycle does not have it, consider the alternative Kappa KZ5117, which mounts without the original rack.

Is the original BMW rack required?
Yes. The Kappa price list indicates that the KRA5117 can only be mounted in conjunction with the original rack provided as an optional extra by the manufacturer. If the motorcycle is not equipped with it, the alternative is the Kappa KZ5117.
Do I also need to buy a Monokey plate?
No. The KRA5117 already has the integrated aluminum plate: the MONOKEY® top case attaches directly.
How much weight can it hold?
The maximum load declared in the Kappa catalog is 6 kg, including the contents of the top case.
